Where is [RF12demo.13] ?

Added by doewie over 1 year ago

Just started to play with a JeeLink v3c.
It identifies as [RF12demo.13], but in all the doc’s and the lib I only find RF12demo.12
Where can I find this 13-version?

Good spot. The Jeelink 3c uses the RFM69CW radio and so it would make a good start if you used RF12Demo from the https://github.com/jcw/jeelib/tree/RFxConsole branch.

This has all the features intended for version 13 as far as I am aware.

Thanks. So this implies that the JeeLink v3c is delivered with unstable beta software ? Rather confusing.
The RF12demo in the RFxConsole branch also identifies as version 12, so where is this version 13 coming from ?

Elements of the RFxConsole branch will make the 13 release when it is released to the master branch. The master branch does support the Jeelink v3c, my suggestion was drawn from my usage of the RFxConsole branch which I find stable.

If you find an instability in the RFxConsole branch I am more than happy to take a look with you.

@JonhO: Thanks for your support.

I want to do some tests with the ‘RFM69 onRaspi’ setup from JCW’s blog communicating with this JeeLink v3c on W7 laptop.
Just to feel sure:
If I load the RF12demo.ino from the RFxConsole branch and #define RF69_COMPAT 1 then I should have a setup that connects to the RPi/RFM69 ?

I’m afraid not but I hear that you won’t have to wait too long: http://jeelabs.org/2015/05/27/rfm69-on-atmega/

At this minute the Jeelink v3C runs RFxConsole/RF12Demo which isn’t supported by Jeelabs on the RasPi hardware because the first is sort of byte based and the RasPi RFM69 is packet based. As I understand it, the Linux OS would be hard pressed to handle the byte based protocol but is very happy with the packet based approach of the latest stuff in the Jee world.

I don’t know for sure but I think http://jeelabs.org/book/1522c/ released tomorrow is what you are looking for.

Indeed - see yesterday’s weblog article for the difference between “classic” and “native” packets, and why they don’t inter-operate, and today’s article about the available options.

As for the .13 puzzle: with the help of the people at Modern Device, it looks like this is the code which is currently being flashed onto JeeNodes and JeeLinks w/ RFM69’s after assembly.

Ah, that was a ‘just-in-time-delivery’ on the weblog. Everything clear now. Thanks!
