AGHW-JeeNode-v5-Retrieve program from chip...

Added by agorts over 5 years ago

Hello,

I have a JeeNode v5, from a very old (almost 2 years) installation and I cannot find the source for the program which it contains…

Can I retrieve (not upload, but download) the program from the chip…?

Please advise…

Thank you :)

agorts,

The most you can do is create a faithful image by using an ISP programmer - so this could make an exact clone if preserving this program is important.

The hex code found in the image could be passed through an AVR disassembler, but that will only get you back to a ‘rough’ assembler code.
Retrieving the C code that could have generated this is a bridge too far.

Is there a way to protect the program by making it unreadable even with an ISP programmer?

@Procyan,

Yes - see the functions of the lock bits.
Is this 100% secure? No - if the contents are sufficiently valuable, there is no protection against a determined copier.
