Resolved: DimmerPlug and led flashing

Added by cl4x almost 6 years ago

Hi,
i have one Jee DimmerPlug connected to raspberry pi rev.B.

When the raspberry take operations (cpu, i/o, etc..) the LED flashing. I suppose that the input 3.3v power is compromised or insufficient when the raspberry absorbs more.

I think 3 way to solve the problem:

1) insert a capacitor to normalize the input power and compensate the temporary power reduction (what capacitor and what value?)

2) connect the dimmerplug to 5v bypoassing the raspberry (how to power it at 5v? if i cut the 3.3v cable, all power off)

3) insert a stepdown 5v-3.3v between the power source and dimmerplug, bypassing the raspberry pi. i don’t like this solution because introduce to many component

What do you think? there are other solutions that I have not thought of?
Thanks!

cl4x,

Are you driving an LED string from the Dimmer Plug? How much current does it need to turn the LED (s) on fully?

Hi, i have found the problem. The section of +3.3v and GND cable was too little (4mt lenght). I have changed it from 0,22 to 0.75mm and i have solved the problem.

Bye!
